Mrs Hg, in a foul mood for reasons with which I won’t trouble you (not me for a change), suggested testily this evening that the Sainsbury’s supermarket Taste The Difference range should be renamed the Taste This, Bitch! range.

    In the pilot of the new Fox series ‘The O.C.’ one of the lines spoken (from one guy to another) was : “Welcome to the O.C., bitch.” It was by far the most popular quote of the episode, so maybe there’s a future in it.

    One should never underestimate the magnification of value which can be gained by the appending of “bitch” to any given utterance.
