Psychic TV

Channel hopping, I caught the end of Street Psychic on Living TV this evening. A crowd of people was competing for the opportunity to attend “Psychic School”. Ten people won and approximately the same number again were losers.
The thought occured to me that if they were all supposed to be psychic, why had the losers even bothered to turn up? Then the obvious explanation hit me. They were the losers precisely because they hadn’t predicted the result. If they had foreseen that they would lose, they would actually be winners.
At this point, my brain melted.

    Tee hee, excellent.
With your insight you should, I feel, be presenting the show.
But I guess you saw that it wouldn’t work out.

There is one school of thought that even the losers must have known that they would be losers but had to turn up anyway because they had forseen they would lose. Otherwise their heads would explode.
Maybe not the exploding bit… but the rest is pretty standard PKD-schlock.

Well, it was school they were trying to get into, if they knew the results why would they need school?

I’ve always wanted to ring up one of these “Psychic” prediction phone lines, and see if they know who’s calling.
