I have to confess, I’ve sometimes wondered why web designers obsessed so much about making their pages as consistent as possible across different platforms. In my innocence, I wondered why they didn’t just ignore the tags/attributes that didn’t work across all browsers.
Well, readers, since setting up this blog, my innocence is lost. I’ve just deleted the six paragraphs of anti-Netscape rant that originally began this posting, on the basis that they were geeky, self-obsessed and ultimately not particularly interesting. However, they can be summarised thus: those grey lines should be invisible, but they’re not. (IE users, don’t worry about it – you’re seeing this site exactly as nature intended.)
My eyes have been opened. I now realise that it’s a jungle out there; I’m totally lost and blindly hacking my way towards a better site. Wish me luck.
